FACTSHEET: COVID-19 vaccination centres

The surge in COVID-19 cases in Zimbabwe since early June has led to a rush for vaccinations, and public frustrations when the vaccines have not been available at some centres around the country.

There was serious crowding at some vaccination centres, which many feared could lead to a further rapid spread of the Coronavirus as people were not observing social distancing.

Zimbabwe began the vaccination drive in February with a target to inoculate at least 10 million people to achieve herd immunity and the government announced that the process was voluntary but people were hesitant to get vaccinated.

According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care daily COVID-19 update, as of 6 July 2021, a total of 807 633 had received their first dose and 574 934 had received their second dose respectively.
