“Combat corruption, focus on economy, end cash shortages”

On the election campaign trail, ZANU PF presidential candidate Emmerson Mnangagwa has promised to:

  • Embark on a strong anti-corruption drive across the board to help clean up Zimbabwe’s image and attract foreign investment.
  • Focus on reviving and growing the national economy under the mantra “Zimbabwe is open for business”.
  • End Zimbabwe’s long running cash shortages, and engage the international community to support resuscitation of an economy in crisis and recession for two decades.
  • Cap government borrowing from the central bank, and ensure that Zimbabwe’s domestic and external debts are serviced.
  • Give youths 25 percent of the positions in his new Cabinet team if he retains power.
