Claim: A notice going viral on local social media platforms claims the Zimbabwean government has partnered with the African Youth Development Fund to disburse cash grants of ZIG 10,000 to youths.

Is this true or false?
Verdict: Fake

The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training has dismissed the above notice as fake. A press statement dated 21 March 2025 which was signed by Solomon Mhlanga the ministry’s Permanent Secretary clarified that the viral call for applications is fake and the ministry is not fielding any applications.

Furthermore the youth ministry advised that any information on the Presidential Empowerment Scheme will be released through the mainstream media and the Ministry’s social media platforms.

The suspicious notice surfaced just as President Emmerson Mnangagwa launched the Presidential Youth Empowerment Scheme. It is therefore important for prospective beneficiaries  of the scheme to be diligent in ensuring they access information through the proper channels.
