On the 7th of October 2024, an image went viral on social media claiming the Zimbabwe Examination Council (ZIMSEC) building “burnt down this morning, burning all the Nov examination papers, this has caused the cancellation of the Nov 2024 exams”.

Verdict: False
The local examination board has dismissed the image saying it is a fabrication meant to disrupt the upcoming ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level examinations. On their X page @ZimsecPR, stated “It seems some candidates are feeling the heat. It is not our building burning down!! October is just around the corner… study to show yourself approved”.
