Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reversed an order banning the disclosure of procurements in the public health sector, which the government says was published in his name unprocedurally without his authority.
In a statement issued on May 10 2023, the Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Misheck Sibanda, said the notice published in the Government Gazette on May 5 2023 had no legal standing, policy and procedural force as it had not been cleared by Mnangagwa or signed by him (Sibanda) as per normal practice.
The matter is now being investigated, he said.
